Data from various national surveys, including the November 2004 SBA-sponsored Waldman Associates Survey, indicate that there are:

  • Approximately 5.5 million Veterans, including 759,000 Service-Disabled Veterans, who currently own small businesses
  • 22% of Veterans in the U.S. household population who have either purchased or started a new business, or considered doing so
  • Over 200,000 service men and women who become Veterans annually
  • Over 1,200,000 currently serving in the National Guard and Reserves

Gutzon Borglum Gutzon Borglum - was the sculpture of Mount Rushmore and liked to tinker with his own legend, subtracting a few years from his age, changing the story of his parentage. The best archival research has revealed that he was born in 1867 to Danish emigrants in Southeastern Idaho. Gutzon Borglum was raised in California trained in Paris where he came to know Auguste Rodin and was influenced by Rodin's dynamic impressionistic light-catching surfaces. Soon he had a national reputation and his most famous sculpture is Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
Korean War Memorial Korean War Monument - On the 42nd anniversary of the armistice, July 27, 1995, President Bill Clinton and President Kim Young Sam of the Republic of South Korea dedicated the Korean War Veterans Memorial. The Korean War Memorial cost 18 million dollars. The Memorial is in the form of a triangle intersecting a circle. Within the triangle are 19 stainless steel statues designed by Frank Gaylord, each slightly larger than life size (between 7 feet 3 inches and 7 feet 6 inches), representing a squad on patrol, 15 Army, 2 Marines, 1 Navy Medic, and 1 Air Force Observer, dressed in full gear, dispersed among strips of granite and juniper bushes, representing the rugged terrain of Korea.
Mount Rushmore Memorial Mount Rushmore Memorial - was $989,992.32 and that federal appropriations accounted for $836,000 of that amount. A $56 million redevelopment was completed in 1998 with the addition of a new parking structure, amphitheater, museum/theater complex, Visitor Orientation Center, Presidential Trail, gift shop, bookstore, and dining facilities. To complete your Rushmore experience, view the evening lighting ceremony. The National Park Service sponsors a special program Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Vietnam Veterans Memorial Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, Inc. (VVMF) raised nearly $9,000,000 entirely through private contributions from corporations, foundations, unions, veterans and civic organizations and more than 275,000 individual Americans donated the majority of the money needed to build the Memorial.
World War II Memorial World War II Memorial - As you may recall, was dedicated in May 2004 at the cost of $197 million. The World War II memorial was dedicated 63 years after the war. 1200 schools from the United States participated in the fund raising. The school that conducted a special school fund-raising campaign and collected the highest donations of all school across the United States was Eagle High School in Eagle (near Boise) Idaho.
Tsceminicum Sculpture Tsceminicum Sculpture - in Lewiston, Idaho is Located at the confluence of the Clearwater and Snake Rivers in Lewiston, this bronze piece artistically conveys Nez Perce legend creatures . Tsceminicum is an Indian term for “meeting of the waters.” ” Dedicated in 2005, this feature is accessible on a paved levee trail near an interpretive display established by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The sculpture cost approximately $85,000.
